Privacy Policy Neural SpeechLab for iPhone and Mac

1. WHO WE ARE
The Neural SpeechLab app for iPhone and Mac (the „app“) is distributed by the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria (Съюз на слепите в България, „SSB“), owner of the Neural SpeechLab Bulgarian speech synthesis system.

This policy explains how the app treats information about its users. It covers the app for iOS and macOS and the extension built into it that adds the Bulgarian system voices to the device.
2. IN SHORT
- The app does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data.
- The app does not use an internet connection.
- There is no advertising, analytics, statistics, tracking or third-party service.
- The details of your personal license are verified on, and stay on, your device.
- Text read aloud by the voices is processed on the device only and is never stored.
3. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
The app does not collect or send to SSB or anyone else:
- contact details, location, contacts, photos, audio or usage history;
- device identifiers or advertising identifiers;
- crash, diagnostic or performance data;
- the content that is read aloud.
The app does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendars, photos, health data or any other protected data on the device.
4. LICENSE DETAILS
Neural SpeechLab voices are provided free of charge to people with visual impairments under a personal license issued by SSB. To activate the voices, you enter the license details in the app or open the license file you received from SSB. These details are:
- the name the license is issued to;
- the Bulgarian personal identification number (EGN), or the organisation’s company number (EIK) for a license issued to an organisation;
- the activation code.
How they are used:
- Their only purpose is to check that the license is valid and to activate the voices.
- The check is performed entirely on the device, without an internet connection, and no information is sent to SSB or to any third party.
- The details are stored on the device only, in a protected folder that only the app and its voice extension can access.
- A license file you choose is read once, when you import it. The app does not read any other files.
How to delete them:
- with the „Премахни активацията“ (Remove activation) button in the app; or
- by deleting the app from the device.
If you back up your device (for example to iCloud or to a computer), the backup may include the app’s data according to your device settings. Such backups are created and protected by Apple and by you; SSB has no access to them.
5. TEXT READ ALOUD
When VoiceOver or another app uses the Neural SpeechLab voices, the text is turned into speech in the device’s memory. The text is not recorded, not stored and never leaves the device.
6. INTERNET AND THIRD PARTIES
The app makes no network connections. It contains no advertising, analytics or tracking libraries and provides no information to third parties. The app does not track users as defined in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency rules.
7. LICENSE ISSUING
Applying for and issuing a personal license is a separate SSB procedure that takes place outside the app. Information you provide when applying is processed by SSB under its own data protection rules and applicable law. This policy does not cover that procedure.
8. CHILDREN
The app is not specifically directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children.
9. SECURITY
The app runs in the isolated environment provided by iOS and macOS. License details are stored in a folder protected by the operating system and accessible only to the app and its extension. On iPhone, device contents are additionally protected by the system’s data encryption.
10. YOUR RIGHTS
Because the app sends no personal data to SSB or to third parties, all license details held by the app are under your control, and you can delete them at any time as described in section 4. For questions about personal data SSB processes when issuing a license, or to exercise your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), please contact SSB using the details in section 12. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (https://www.cpdp.bg).
11. CHANGES
If the way the app treats information changes, this policy will be updated and the new version published on this page with a new effective date.
